Join the Real Property Tax Appeals Commission (RPTAC) — an independent, quasi‑judicial tribunal that serves as DC’s second‑level real property assessment appeals body . As part of this vital public mission, you’ll help ensure properties across the District are assessed accurately, fairly, and in accordance with the law.
What You’ll Do
• Lead second‑level administrative hearings on real estate assessment appeals, homestead matters, and classification cases
• Investigate facts, review precedents, define issues, and craft solid legal conclusions
• Draft clear, evidence‑based written decisions reviewed by Full‑Time Commissioners and fellow Hearing Examiners
• Work independently while collaborating with a team committed to fairness, accuracy, and public service
Who You Are
• A detail‑driven legal professional with strong writing and analytical skills
• Comfortable running hearings, evaluating evidence, and managing your caseload
• Ready to make an impact in a fast‑paced, mission‑focused environment
