Finance Manager Job at New York Distilling Company, LLC, Brooklyn, NY

  • New York Distilling Company, LLC
  • Brooklyn, NY

Job Description

A broad, hands-on opportunity to own the day-to-day finance function of a growing distilling business.

The opportunity

New York Distilling Company is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of its complete day-to-day finance function, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

This is a stand-alone role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail and to the business. You will manage everything from supplier invoices, customer accounts and bank reconciliations through to month-end reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis.

You will be the on-site finance lead, working closely with the COO, operational colleagues, the wider group finance team and external advisers. It is a varied role offering genuine ownership and the opportunity to build effective, practical finance processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, expenses and general ledger transactions.
  • Owning month-end close and preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and resolving outstanding items.
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and supporting effective working capital management.
  • Providing clear reporting and commentary to the COO and wider group.
  • Supporting budgets, forecasts and commercial decision-making.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory, product cost and cost of goods sold information.
  • Strengthening financial controls and improving day-to-day finance processes.
  • Coordinating information for payroll, audit, tax and other external reporting.
  • Working with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers and other professional advisers.

What we’re looking for

  • A qualified accountant, or someone qualified by relevant experience.
  • Broad, hands-on experience across transactional finance, month-end reporting and financial control.
  • Confidence working independently and taking responsibility from start to finish.
  • Strong accounting system and spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A practical, commercially aware approach and the ability to explain finance clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Inventory, manufacturing, production or cost accounting experience would be highly desirable.
  • Experience in spirits, drinks or wider manufacturing would be an advantage.

Why this role?

  • A visible role working directly with the COO and operational leadership.
  • Broad ownership of the finance function, with variety across transactions, reporting and business support.
  • The opportunity to shape efficient processes and make a practical impact across the business.
  • A collaborative working relationship with the wider group finance team and specialist advisers.
