Job Description

Correctional Officer I is an entry level position that requires successful completion of the Entry Level Correctional Academy. Duties Include:

• Supervision and Monitoring of inmates in housing units and inmates assigned to special confinement.
• Counting of inmates at regular and irregular intervals and keeping a total count of inmates and their location.
• Conducting random housing unit and perimeter security checks of the institution.
• Performing regular pat searches of inmates.
• Enforcing the rules and regulation of the department.
• Preparing written reports documenting post activities and completing other paperwork as required.
• Shift work including days evenings nights weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age or older; Must possess a high school diploma or GED that is recognized by the MD Board of Education; Must be a US Citizen or Resident Alien; Must successfully pass a background investigation; Must successfully pass drug screening; Must successfully pass a physical examination; Must successfully pass psychological testing; and Must possess a Valid Drivers License.
